The first thing was to strip it down, place all nuts and bolts in labelled containers and see a little closer exactly what I was about to face.

I was pleasantly surprised with what I found. The initial superficial inspection didn't really turn up anything particularly nasty.

The memories of this Spit from when I was young are etched into my brain. I've been dreaming of owning this since I was a young boy. I remember running around the back of where my gran lived to the group of garages where my uncle Bill used to keep her (The car, not my gran).

I've been sorting through the hundreds of photographs of this restoration before I get stuck in on the articles that will cover everything done to her. First though, I thought I'd give an overview of where I'll start and show you a couple more pictures of where she is now.

I ordered one and then when It came to fitting it, I couldn't find it, so ordered another from the same seller. Now the restoration is over and I'm going through the parts to put on ebay, I found it. It was still boxed and is exactly as it arrived then.

When she first arrived, she was red, rusty and pretty well broken. It hadn't been anywhere since the very early 1970's. This section of the site will detail her revival over the course of the last three years. This will be accompanied by the hundreds, possibly thousands of photographs that went with it.

That's the one with the 2.5ltr diesel engine. Yeah, I know, not exactly balls to the wall, but it's more economical than my old Volvo 850 and it's a hell of a comfortable motor.

The only problems that it has is a drip from the oil cooler lines, the sun roof internal hatch handle needs gluing back on and the near side mirror wasn't fitted correctly. If there's any other problem, I haven't come across it yet.
